Live In Ottawa

Live In Ottawa is the fourth volume of the series initiated by Dagger Records in 1998. It is a recording in the second concert given by the Jimi Hendrix Experience on March 19th 1968 to Ottawa, with the Canada. This recording circulated already in the circuit of the collectors, but its quality justified the decision to publish it officially. In his notes of small pockets, John McDermott describes it like a raw, two-track mixing console recording : it is quite simply a recording taking again what the table of mixing then rocked on the sound system. The sound is rough, but very musical. It is of a better audio quality than the first two volumes of Stages , insofar as it is balanced more. It is not a question of a professional recording strictly speaking (the initial mixing is final), but it is not either a recording pirate : Jimi Hendrix precise with humor with its audience which the concert is recorded.

The second testimony of the first US round 1968

Ideal complement of the second volume suggested by Dagger Records, recorded four days earlier, the Live In Ottawa constitutes a lighting impassioning of the first stage of the American round of the group, which occurred 60 times in 60 days, alternating clubs, faculties and theaters of intermediate size.

In the absence of recording in the first concert given to Capitol Theater this March 19th, 1968, the press teaches us that the repertory from the group comprenanit Sgt. Pepper' S Lonely Hearts Club Band and I Don' T Live Today , absent from the setlist in the second concert, whereas Fire and Foxy Lady (the traditional ones of the group) was common to both concerts. It will be noted finally that it is Soft Machine which ensured the first part of the Experiment.
