Live Earth

The gathering Live Earth 7/7/07 was a concert given simultaneously in several countries saturdays July 7th 2007 (7/7/07) to sensitize the population in connection with the climatic Crise.

Events

The event was intended to start a world movement to fight the climatic crisis and was organized, partly, by old the American vice-president Al Gore, and the collected funds went to its foundation. This multiple concert made continuation and was of the same nature as Live Aid in 1985, Human Rights Now in 1988 and Live 8 in 2005.

For this gathering, named S.O.S - the countryside for a climate in crisis (in French) several great names gave their support to this demonstration in addition to the former American vice-president Al Gore, Madonna, Roger Waters, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Melissa Etheridge, Genesis, Bon Jovi, Fall Out Boy, The Police, Shakira, Kanye West, Smashing Pumpkins like several others. There were 8 official concerts retransmis in the world, like more than 10.000 concerts of the Friends of Live Earth/Friends off Live Earth in 129 cities.

The singer Madonna recorded an individual which was available in numerical remote loading on the official site of the event from May 17th to 24th 2007. The title, Hey You , is a collaboration with the producer Pharell Williams. The song speaks about differences, to like oneself and the others. Moreover, the group MSN begins to pour 25 hundreds (Canadian) for each song downloaded to amount of a million remote loadings. The profits will be versed with the Alliance for Climate Protection to support the event.

To ensure that everyone obtains an equal chance to attend Live Earth the U.K. (and also to prevent the abuse), the organizers decreed the tickets by drawing lots. The participants were to be registered between Monday April 13rd 2007 and Friday April 16th 2007 and the tickets were decreed before Wednesday April 18th 2007, and they were to be paid before Friday April 20th. For the Live Earth the USA , the tickets could be bought by Internet or telephone.
