Liu Zhenyun

Liu Zhenyun, born in 1958 in the Province of Henan, is a Chinese writer.

Biography

In 1973 Liu Zhenyun enters the army and spends five years in the Gobi Desert. After studies at the university, he becomes journalist with the Daily newspaper of the Farmers.

In 1987 is published a first news the shop of the Tower in the newspaper the Literature of the People (Renmin Wenxue) and is accommodated by the public with great interest. Its saga novel, the flour and the flowers of my native land, appeared in 1998, is regarded as the first intellectual novel.

Greatest success is met by its novel, the portable, with 220.000 specimens of sold as of the first month and has recently was used as scenario for a film.

By examining the style, one notices a rupture with the ideology of the old system, which is replaced by a vulgarizing being translated in the form of strong exaggerations, of an uncontrolled language and subjectivity, in contrast with socialist realism.
