Liu Xiang
Liu Xiang (in simplified Chinese: 刘翔, in pinyin: Liú Xiáng), born the July 13rd 1983 with Shanghai (Popular republic of China), is a Chinese athlete, specialist in the 110 meters hurdles. It holds the world records of the discipline with a time of 12" 88 bench at the time of Athletissima to Lausanne, the July 11th 2006.
In 2002, it inaugurated its international career by gaining Grand Prix IAAF in Lausanne with a record hope and an Asian record of 13" 12 on the 110 m hedges.
Since, it reached the finales of the championships of the world of athletics, always behind the American Allen Johnson but beat this last with Ōsaka, in May 2004, by obtaining the Asian record with 13" 06.
Liu improved appreciably, in spite of its youth, and gained the gold medal with the Olympic Games with Athens by equalizing the world records, with 12" 91, held since 1993 by the Welshman Hake Jackson, then by improving it with 12" 88 on July 11th, 2006 in Lausanne.
At the time of the Championships of the world of athletics 2005 with Helsinki, it is beaten finally by the French Ladji Doucouré. He becomes world champion with the Championnats of the world of athletics 2007 with Ōsaka.
