Little sisters of Jesus

The Little sisters of Jesus form a religious congregation of contemplative in the middle of the world, taking as a starting point the spirituality of Charles de Foucauld, founded in 1939 in Algérie by Magdeleine Hutin (April 26th 1898 in Paris - November 6th 1989 in Rome).

This one and a fore-mentioned friend Anne, on the steps of the Father of Foucault, leave for Algeria, in the small town of Boghari, and live in full Arab district.

Magdeleine meets in 1938 the father Rene Voillaume who had founded in 1933 the Little brothers of Jesus and who will still found in 1963 the Little sisters of the Gospel.

After a time of formation to the noviciate of the White Sisters of Algiers, Magdeleine and its Anne friend pronounce their religious engagement the September 8th 1939 in Algérie. As of October, it install the first fraternity with Touggourt.

The Little sisters of Jesus, currently approximately 1.350, divided into small fraternities, want to live, in medium of Islam, enracinées as a God and completely immersed in the world such as it is, and to concretely share the social condition of those which do not have much place in the company, without seeking the effectiveness, but the fruitfulness of a true friendship, durable and major.
