Pedology
In Pedology, the litter consists of vegetable residues (Pollen, Feuille S, branches and brushwood which falls from the Arbre S each Automne) still unaltered or little deteriorated, which are on the surface of a Profil of ground not worked, generally forest. Under the action of micro fauna (Collembole S, Acarina S, Lombric S, Woodlouse S), Mushroom S and Bacterium S, the litter is transformed little by little into Humus.
Animals of interiors
A litter is a device of interior for the Chat S, rabbits and other animals of interiors not having the possibility of making their requirements in outside; one indicates same name the matter intended to collect the dejections animal. The term is also employed for the animals of cattle shed (Vache S, horses…) and the Matériau indicates (in general of the Paille of corn) used to isolate them from the ground and to collect their dejections.
Types of container
Simple box
In Plastic, to be easily washable, they are basic models with a raised edge and sometimes an edge curved towards the interior to retain projections.
House of toilet
This type of litter is common for the cats, they are covered with:
- a removable roof
- a beating door
- a coal filter which retains the Odeur S.
One can wait until the animal is adult to put the door because it can be too small to push it or frightened by the return.
Types of contents
Mineral
They are mainly grounds Argile use.
Plant
Sawdust of Wood. It must be a question of a tender wood and whose chips are not sharp.
Silica
Pieces of Silica.
To check that the crystals is not sharp because the cases of cuts of the legs are frequent with the old models.
