Litomyšl
Litomyšl '' (in German Leitomischl ) is a city of the Région of Pardubice in Tchéquie.
The city is famous for its historical center town; its castle and its gardens are registered since 1999 on the Liste of the world heritage of UNESCO.
History
The city emerges at the 13th century on trade route which connects the Bohemia to the Moravie on an old strengthened site.The principal monument of the city is the castle Renaissance builds between 1568 and 1581. Common are not in oneself exceptional, if it is not that they saw the birth of the type-setter Bedřich Smetana.
The place principal, one the most extended of in its kind in Bohemia, is remarkable by its houses with pediment, Renaissance or baroques, at the ground floor in covered arcades, its Gothic Beffroi.
The city was an important religious center, seat of the second évêché of Bohemia (1344) after Prague. This one was dissolves at the time of the Guerres hussites.
Between the end of the 18th century and the beginning of the XIXe, Litomyšl was not saved by the catastrophes. It was victim of a catastrophic first fire in 1775, of a raw in 1781 and, again, of a large fire in 1814. Following the fires, the city was rebuilt, in first half of the XIXe century, in the “Style Worsens then”, prevalent.
