Litany

A litany is a succession of prayers Liturgique S of intercession which end in identical formulas, recited or sung by the assistants. For example, the Litanies of the Virgin, the Litanies of the saints, the Litanies of Lorette.
The repetitive side of this mode of prayer gave in the language familiar to the word litany the direction of long continuation of repetitive and tedious words.
