The Litani (in Arab: نهرالليطاني; - Nahr Al-Lytany ) is important a Fleuve irrigating the south of the Lebanon. Its course, entirely on the Lebanese and long territory of more than 140 km, crosses the plain of the Bekaa and is thrown in the Mediterranean, in the north of Tyr. This river does not cross other country which Lebanon, it is very important, for Lebanese agriculture in particular, and is very used. It is however prone of discord in this arid area of the Middle East, it indeed causes semi-official covetousnesses of its neighbors, in particular Israeli, who wish to divert this water with the profit of his agriculture in lack of irrigation. It is the perfect example of the Lebanese geography (covered with snow mountains, well irrigated plains…), which acts as water tower of the area. Indeed, Lebanon, in an overdrawn area, knows a water surplus.
