Obermodern-Zutzendorf is a common French, located in the department of the the Low-Rhine and the area Alsace. The commune, initially called Obermodern was called Modern from January 1st, 1974 to April 17th, 1983 following its fusion-association with the village of Zutzendorf to become finally Obermodern-Zutzendorf .

Obermotter is a place located on the river bank of Motter with a church located on a small height, its bell-tower is vault, its cemetery is contained of a high from 5 to 6 feet and notched wall.
Zutzendorff is a place located on a height whose church is on a small eminence, the bell is vault and its cemetery is contained of an old high wall from 3 to 4 feet with some breaches.

The village disappeared from Betbur
Bethebur or Bettweiller was located at 600 meters in the south of Zutzendorf; close to the current cemetery. the village is still mentioned in 12th century but in 1293, it appears under the name of Alt-Bethebur. On this date, he is not thus inhabited any more. Cepandant its church always remains and, is used by the inhabitants of Zutzendorf. But in 1454 Zutzendorf has its own church. Moreover the parish of Betbur which is quoted in 1371, does not appear any more in 1419. The church of Bettweiller appears as a ruin on the chart of Cassini dating from the 18th century. The cemetery of Betbur is currently that of Zutzendorf.
