List subdivisions by surface

This article gives the list of the greatest subdivisions of country by surface .

Criteria

The list according to takes into account the total surface areas of the subdivisions, including those of interior water. It is limited to the entries of more than: 400000 km ²; as comparison, the last, the province of Ecuador in Democratic republic of Congo, is as large as the State independent of the Paraguay.

The subdivisions selected are those which have a certain administrative importance (for example, immense the federal Districts of Russia is not listed here). This specified, all the entries are of the subdivisions of first order (immediate subdivisions of a State).

The data of population and population density are also indicated for each subdivision. The figures selected those are given on the respective articles; the sources of these figures are thus to seek at these places.
