List stoppings of the Yrénées-Atlantiques

Stopping S hydroelectric

In the Yrénées-Atlantiques, area Aquitanian, the stoppings taking part in the electrical production was primarily established in the valleys of Winder and of Ossau.

According to the valleys, the investor was different: EDF (Électricité de France) for the valley of Winder, and SHEM (Hydro-electric Company of the South) for the valley of Ossau.

Valley of Winder

; Peilhou Brought into service on the Gave d' Aspe in 1925, the stopping is high 26,5 m and has a drop height of 332 m and a capacity of 120.000 m ³.

; Estaens Built in 1912 in Spanish territory , the powerplant, it, being located in France, the stopping has a 15,1 m height, a drop height of 485 m and a capacity of 2.800.000 m ³.

; Anglus Collecting water of the Gave d' Aspe since 1911, the stopping 13 m is high and has a drop height of 161 m and a capacity of 90.000 m ³.

Valley of Ossau

; Artouste The construction started into 1927 is completed in 1929. High of 27 m, with a drop height of 763m, the stopping has a capacity of 24.000.000 m ³.

The flow of water of the Lake Artouste is supplemented by the collecting of the brooks of the right side of the valley of Soussouéou, in particular of the brooks of Estibère, Tourettes, Milhas, Palada, and the Dregs. Water of the Lakes Arrémoulit and that of Arrius is also diverted towards the Lac of Artouste.

; Fabrèges 1940 mark the beginning of work of the fall of Fabrèges, which is completed in 1947. High of 51 m and a drop height of 107 m, the stopping has a capacity of 6.700.000 m ³.

This stopping was built to face the surpluses of volumes of water which the dam Artouste was not able to contain and thus to exploit.

; Bious-Artigues Brought into service in 1957 (beginning of work in 1953) on the gave of Bious, the 50 m high stopping has a drop height of 285 m and a capacity of 5.100.000 m ³.

Basque Country

; Holy-Engrâce (SHEM) Built between 1914 and 1915 then elevated of 1953 to 1954 the stopping is brought into service in 1955 on the Gave of Holy-Engrâce. Of a 42 m height, It has a capacity of 11.300 m ³.

Stoppings of retention of water

The General advice of the Yrénées-Atlantiques to the control of work of the stoppings of retention of water of the department with an aim of regulation of the needs in order to support the low water level, to allow the Irrigation, to control water quality and to prevent the Raw S and the Flood S.
