List sovereigns of Vescovato
The seigniory of Vescovato (or Vescovado ) between under the sovereignty of the House Gonzague by the line of Novellara and Bagnolo, in the person of Jacques de Novellara. He will succeed its two sons and four of its grandsons before the stronghold passes, in 1519, under the sovereignty of the line known as of Vescovato.
In 1519, Jean de Mantoue, then general captain of the emperor Maximilien I {{er}}, buys part of the imperial stronghold of Vescovato to his/her distant cousins and in fact his seigniory which will be confirmed to him by the emperor Charles V in 1521 (Maximilien Ier having died at the beginning of 1519). Jean de Vescovato is the third wire and sixth child of the marquis Frederic I {{er}} of Mantoue known as '' Uneven the '' (1440-1484) and of Marguerite of Bavaria (1442-1479).
In spite of some ruptures of direct succession (and especially, in 1779, that important with died of Prince Sigismond IV which succeeded Prince François Nicolas, back-back-back-back-small-wire of his/her back-back-back-large-father!) this line is, today, the only one of the Gonzague House which remains to have still alive representatives today.
