First House of Mayenne (discussed historicity)
For the Abbé Angot, Mayenne has this advantage, from the point of view of historical clearness, that a written text comes to about it corroborate the general data of the history. The lawsuit is thus judged by him under this report/ratio: there is lord of Mayenne before Geoffroy, wire of Hamon. The Angot abbot brings an indirect evidence of this established fact, by showing how the legend was formed which would claim to give to Mayenne several generations of lords former to hereditary feudality.

This act, whose drafting places between 1067 and 1070, was approved by Geoffroy, wire of Hamon, which Geoffroy had received Foulques Nerra, count of Anjou, is between 1014 and 1040, the property of the Château of Mayenne.
