List sovereigns of Bagnolo
The seigniory of Bagnolo in Piano belonged to the strongholds of the Duché of Milan when the lord of Milan, Barnabé Visconti, decides, in 1356, to seize Reggio of Emilie directed at the time by the Gonzague of Mantoue. Adventurous action because the Milanese troops are defeats. In 1371, the two Gonzague brothers, Guy and Feltrino decide to sell the stronghold of Reggio to Visconti against the sum of 5 000 ducats of gold and strongholds of Novellara and Bagnolo in Piano. The business is concluded and while Guy remains with the head of Mantoue, it will be Feltrino which will become the first lord of Novellara and of Bagnolo. The two seigniories will have sometimes made parallel destinies Co-seigniory and that of Bagnolo, during a time dissociated from that of Novellara according to the heritages, will return under the same direction.
The first lord of Bagnolo is thus Feltrino de Novellara and of Bagnolo, third wire of Louis I {{er}} of Mantoue.
In 1509, the pope confiscates the seigniory of Bagnolo to the four brothers, children of Georges and entrusts it, in 1510, with their cousin, the count Jean-Pierre de Novellara.
The line of the counts reigning on Novellara and Bagnolo stopped in 1728 with the death of Philippe Alphonse. The stronghold was confiscated by the duke Renaud III of Modena then was conceded to him with imperial nomination.
