- 518 : Earthquake in Pisidie which destroys the town of Sagalassos.
- 526 : An earthquake destroys mainly the town of Antioche and made one says 250.000 dead.
- 557 : Byzance undergoes an earthquake which damages the large church of Holy-Sophie. The dome of the church will crumble the following year.
- 746 : Galileo: an earthquake destroys in particular the town of Capharnaüm
- 1302: The Headlight of Pharos, with Alexandria, is destroyed by an earthquake.
- 1356 : Basle, in Switzerland, as approximately 80 castles in the neighborhoods is destroyed the October 18th.
- 1408 : Kathmandou, with the Nepal, is devastated.
- 1505 : Âgrâ and the north of the gangetic flat in India.
- 1555 : Srinagar in India (60 000 dead)
- 1556: An earthquake in the China, perhaps worst of all times, makes more 830 000 victims.
- 1687 : The town of Lima, with the Peru, is practically destroyed by an earthquake.
- 1703 : Tokyo, with the Japan, (200 000 dead)
- 1707: Several earthquakes with the Japan including one particularly violent one in October, the seism of Hôei, magnitude 8,6, followed by an eruption in the southern part of the Mount Fuji creating the crater of Hôei.
- 1716 : Algiers, in Algeria, (20 000 dead)
- 1727: Tabriz, in Iran, (77 000 dead)
- 1755: In 6 seconds, 9 000 buildings crumble, Lisbon, with the Portugal, is destroyed (60 000 victims)

- 1906: Earthquake of San Francisco, with the the United States. Richter estimates in 1958 its magnitude at 8,3 but of the more recent studies propose lower magnitudes (Ms=7,7 and Mw=7,9). The number of victims in general allowed is 700 due as well to the seism as with the fire which was followed from there. This figure is not certain and can be under estimated of a factor 3 or 4 (source USGS).

- 1946 April 1st: With the Aleutian Islands, magnitude 8,6 (Richter) (2000 victims) Tsunami with a wave of 35 m which touches Hawaii, the Japan and the west coast of the E. - U.
- 1949: Ambato, in Ecuador, magnitude 6,8 (Richter) (3 000 victims)
- 1954: Orléansville (El Asnam), in Algeria, magnitude 6,7 (Richter) (1 450 victims)
- 1958 July 10th: in Alaska (bay of Lituya), close to the Canada, a Séisme of magnitude 8,2 caused a gigantic landslide. This weight falling in a very narrow bay created a very localized and spectacular wave. Water arrived until a height of 525 Mr. This phenomenon is technically closer to a Splash (Physical) that of a Tsunami (2 dead).
- 1960 :
- February 29th: Agadir, with the Morocco, magnitude 5,8 (Richter) (15 000 victims)
- Chile, magnitude of moment 9,5 (5 700 victims) All the coastal towns of this country located between the 36e and the parallel 44e either were destroyed, or seriously damaged under the effect of the Tsunami and the Séisme. Off the coastal town of Corral, with the Chile, the waves reached, according to the estimates, more than 20 meters in height. The Tsunami made 61 died with Hawaii, 20 with the Filipino and more than one hundred with the Japan. The damage was estimated at 50 million dollars to the Japan, 24 million with Hawaii and several million still along the west coast of the the United States and the Canada. Far from the source, the waves, reduced to light oscillations in certain zones, reached more than 12 meters to the islands Pitcairn, 11 meters with Hilo (Hawaii), and 6 meters in certain places of the Japan.

- the Friuli, North-eastern of Italy, May 6th, the area of Gemona is almost entirely destroyed in a seism magnitude 6,4 on the scale of Richter. Surface touched: 5 725 km ², 137 touched communes, 600 000 people concerned, 1 000 died, approximately 200 orphans, 700 000 homeless people, 5 500 job losses, assembling damage: 1 000 billion liras of the time.

Destruction of the pipeline and the road linking the north-Amazonian region of Ecuador to the remainder of the country.
