List queens of France
This is a list of the queens of France . For their husbands, to consult the List of the monarchs of France.
It should be noticed from the start that the title of " queen of France" is only one honorary title. From a strictly legal point of view, and this pursuant to the Salic law, these women carried the title d'" marry of king of Francs" , " marry of king de France" or " marry of king of Français". They did not have thus any vocation to reign, except particular case of the Régence (which was not the expression of a capacity which would have been clean to them, since they could control only instead of the king, temporarily).

the case of Madam de Maintenon
The case of Madam de Maintenon (1635 - 1719), born Francoise d' Aubigné, is ambiguous. Become widowed of the queen Marie Therese of Austria, Louis XIV the wife secretly, undoubtedly with the autumn 1683 and it was during 32 years beside the king. It did not have the birth of a queen, even if her grandfather Theodore Agrippa of Aubigné were a friend of youth of the king Henri IV, grandfather of Louis XIV. Much refuses the title of queen to him to which it does not have right since morganatic wife, while enjoying certain privileges of this row.
