List players of the major leagues which struck 60 blows of circuit in one season

There are only five players who have struck 60 blows of circuit in one season of the major Ligues of baseball.

History

The first was Babe Ruth in 1927, leaf its own record of 59 circuits established in 1920.

The second was Roger Maris which beat the record of Ruth by only one blow of circuit in 1961. However, in 1927 the season was made up of 154 parts, in 1961 this number rose with 162 parts. Husbands had 590 presences with the stick in 1961, in comparison with 540 for Ruth in 1927.

The records of Husbands and Ruth remained unbeaten during 36 years. In 1998, the war of the bruisers between Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire started. McGwire had already struck 58 circuits in 1997, on the other hand Sosa had struck only 36 of them. But in 1998, Sosa had 66 circuits and McGwire struck 70 of them - a new record of the major leagues. Sosa would have easily beaten the record of Husbands if McGwire had not beaten the record itself. In 1999 they repeated the war by striking 65 and 63 circuit, McGwire had 65 of them.

In 2001, Barry Bonds struck 73 blows of circuit. By striking 62 circuits it has battule record for a left-handed person. Sosa remains the only player who struck 60 circuits three times, although it carried out the league none of these three seasons (beaten by McGwire in 1998 and 1999 and Bonds in 2001). It however carried out the league in 2000 with 50 circuits.
