List lords then princes de Carency

The seigniory of Carency was allotted to a branch junior by the Bourbon it Marche. They are called " princes de Carency" as from the 15th century, even if the stronghold does not seem to be set up in principality. To the 16th century, Carency passes to Escars through the women.

Origins (13th century-14th century)

  • Catherine of Cop, lady of Carency, Buquoy and Aubigny. She marries Jacques Ier of Châtillon († 1302) lord of Leuze, wire junior by Guy of Châtillon († 1289), Count of Saint-pol., from where:
  • Hugues of Châtillon († 1329), lord of Cop, Carency, Buquoy, Aubigny and Leuze. He marries Jeanne rams of Argies and lady of Cathen, from where:
  • Jeanne of Châtillon (1320 - † 1371), lady of Cop, Carency, Aubigny and Leuze. She marries in 1335 Jacques I {{er}} of Bourbon count of Walk († 1362), from where:
  • Jean I {{er}} of Bourbon (1344 - † 1393), count of Walk, of Vendôme and of Castrate.

House of Bourbon-Carency (14th century-16th century)

Lord of Carency - in Artois and of Aubigny-in-Artois

It is the third wire of Jean I {{er}} of Bourbon, count of Walk, and Catherine de Vendôme.

He marries in 1416 Catherine of Artois († 1420), second girl of Philippe d' Artois, count of Have and Marie de Berry.
He marries in 1420 Jeanne of Vendômois, girl of Hamelin of of Vendômois and Alix de Besse, with which he had:

Lord of Carency, Aubigny, Rochefort, Buquoy, Lécluse.

He was Lieutenant Général of Jean II, duke of Bourbon on his grounds, by letters given to Moulins last February 1486. Louis XI gave him the goods confiscated on Pierre de Bourbon by letters of the April 20th 1469. He lived in 1493 more.

He marries in 1442, Antoinette of the Tower, widow of Jacques Aubert, lord of Marteil and girl of Annet II of the Tower, lord of Olliergues and Elips of Vendat, from where:

2 below. Jean de Bourbon (1446 -?), lord of Rochefort, Arson, marries Jeanne of Isle, widow of Arnoul, lord of Hanaide and Cop, only daughter of Jacques of Isle, lord of Ash and Catherine de Neusville, without posterity.

He marries by last contract the January 15th 1468, Didière of Vergy, only daughter and heiress of Jean of Vergy, lord of Fouvens and Vinory and Marguerite of Rocheguyon, without posterity.

He marries by last contract on November 8th 1481, Antoinette of Chabannes († 1490), girl of Geoffroy of Chabannes, knight, lord of Charlus and of Charlotte of Requests, without posterity.

He marries by last contract the April 18th 1493, Catherine of Alegre, puînée girl of Bertrand of Alegre, baron de Puysaguet, lord of Busset, baron de Puysagut, of the Temple and Saint-Priest, and Isabelle of Levy-Cousan, from where:

1. Bertrand of Bourbon (1494 - † 1515)), died with the Battle of Marignan in 1515, without posterity.

2. Jean de Bourbon (1500 - † 1520), died with Mills without posterity.

She marries on February 22nd 1516 François de Peyrusse d' Escars (or of the Bus) († 1550), lord of Vauguyon, adviser, chamberlain, gentleman of the room of the king François Ier, from where:

" Prince" of Carency, then in 1586 count of Vauguyon, lord of Abret and Vendat . Knight of the Order of the Holy Spirit in 1578.

He marries in 1561 Anne de Clermont, girl of Antoine III count de Clermont, wire of Bernardin de Clermont, from where:

1. Claude d' Escars († 1586), prince of Carency, killed in duel by Gontaut Biron (head sliced on order of Henri IV), the March 6th 1586.

2. Henri d' Escars († 1590), prince of Carency, married to Anne marchioness of Fronsac, girl of Geoffroy lord of Caumont.

Princess of Carency, countess of Vauguyon and lady of Abret after the death of his/her brothers.

She marries in 1573 Charles Gouyon, count of the Moor who transported Carency in the family of Rochechouart which did not raise the title. This last besides is not related to erection in principality of Carency. She marries then Louis Estuer count de Saint-Megrin, from where:

1. Jacques (1588 - † 1671) count of Vauguyon

At the end of the 18th century, the title will pass by marriage as of Vauguyon to the Bauffremont.
