Si one considers that the representative of the throne of Portugal must be of Portuguese nationality, princes de Hohenzollern and of Saxony, legitimate descendants of Marie II, cannot assert it. The Portuguese applicant who currently joins together the greatest consensus in the Portuguese monarchists is Duarte Pio de Bragança, great-grandson of Michel Ier, by his paternal line, and also descendant of Pierre IV, by his maternal line to go down from the direct Branch of the House of Bragance.
