The General governors of the French West Indies were the representatives of the king in the West-Indian colonies managed by the France under the Ancien Mode. Their authority made of them the hierarchically superiors of the Gouverneur S of each territory. It happened occasionally that certain representatives cumulate the two functions, in particular in the islands Saint-Christophe, Saint Martin's day, St Lucia, Holy-Crosses, Grenadian, of the Guadeloupe, the Martinique, the Dominique.
