List federal subjects of Russia by surface

This article draws up a list of the federal Sujets of Russia by surface .

Remarks

The surface considered for each federal subject is the total surface area, interior water included/understood. The data of population coming from the census from 2002 are also indicated as an indication.

Certain subdivisions of Russia are overlapping. Thus, the Oblast de Tioumen includes two autonomous districts, Khantis-Mansis and the Iamalie, which are néammoins regarded as federal subjects with whole share. In this case, the surface of the area which includes some others is given by including the overlapping parts. Total surface area of Russia east of: 17075400 km ²; taking into account the preceding case, the sum of the surfaces of the federal subjects exceeds that of Russia.

Certain federal subjects must amalgamate in the near future; at July 1st, 2007, Russia counted 85 of them.
