List dukes of Piney-Luxembourg
At the 16th century, the title of duke of Luxembourg was not carried in an autonomous way, but melted any more in a whole of many titles, and descendants of a branch junior by the house of Luxembourg asserted the right to carry the title. The king of France granted this title to them, without it implying a territorial possession and which was associated with the ground of Piney that it had. From there a line comes from dukes of Piney-Luxembourg, whose title was transmitted to the house of Albert, then to the Maison of Montmorency, with two marshals of Luxembourg.
