Mount-Louis
Mount-Louis in Cerdagne (the Eastern Pyrenees)
Created ex nihilo between 1679 and 1681 to mark the new border with Spain (Treated of the Pyrenees 1659) by closing the crossroads of three valleys: Cerdagne, Capcir and Conflent. Place strong highest of France (1613 m), this defensive whole of mountain is the perfect example of a military architecture adapted to the natural morphology of the ground. The citadel preserved its vocation of origin, it is always occupied by the army (currently the National center of Drive Commando).
