Cain will then not propose to identify the objects of the player free).
Farnham the Soak ( Farnham The Drunk )
Farnham the Soak does not bring any help to the player in Diablo, his dialogs being mainly comic. In Diablo, the player can meet Lachdanan in Enfer , and this one will then require of him to find a Elixir Gilded ( Golden Elixir ) which will enable him to find the eternal rest finally.
King Léoric ( King Leoric )
The King Léoric , known thereafter like the King Somber ( Black King ), and finally the King Squelette ( Skeleton King ), is the King of the Region of Khanduras. It is faithful religion Zakarum which succeeded in car-proclaiming King by posting best qualities of a King and by defending a noble religion. With its apogee, it decides to install its court in an old monastery Horadrim in which is hidden the stone of heart of Diablo (but nobody knew it). From there, the village of Tristram is born and extends (in the play, Tristram is not quite large, which can seem contradictory with the accounts of the handbook and the various players, but do not forget that the Evil passed by there, in addition to disastrous wars).
In the same time of its establishment, Diablo starts to take again forces, and manages to attract Archévèque Lazarus , the right-hand man of the King Léoric , in the depths of the monastery, for finally discovering the stone of heart and to break it, which delivers Diablo and makes very quickly its first convert of it. But Diablo needs a body, and its choice is made on the man having most powerful strength, the King Léoric . The influence of Diablo is done increasingly oppressive on the spirit of the King Léoric , but the animal does not manage to control it completely. The new transformation of the King Léoric , physics like mental, make that its people call it then the King Somber .
Lazarus , understanding that the King Léoric will not be an envelope interesting for Diablo, concocte a new plan. It makes accept the King Léoric that the Royaume of Westmarch plans to annex the Royaume of Khanduras by all the means, which enables him to make declare the war between the two Kingdoms. Thus, the troops of the King Léoric will be decimated by the powerful army of Westmarch , and the villages will divert their attentions related to him.
Unfortunately for Diablo, the spirit of the King Léoric does not yield to its influence, and it must be solved to give up it in a dilapidated mental state. Its glance goes from now on on his/her son, the Prince Albrecht , which it controls very quickly. When the King Somber discovers that his/her son disappeared, it reaches a new stage in the insanity and starts to carry out enormously of villager, suspecting their participation in removal.
The knight Lachdanan , a lieutenant who survived the disastrous war of the Kingdoms, reveint to the monastery, and, discovering the atrocities of the King, parveint to kill it. The King Léoric exists from now on as a King Squelette in the depths of the monastery, and in Diablo, the player can have as a search optional it to kill, him and his small army of skeletons. The accounts of Act I speak about a Countess who bathed in the blood of a hundred sacrificed virgins, and which was finally buried in its tower. It is a direct analogy with the bloody history of Elizabeth Báthory, which existed.
Deckard Cain
See higher, in the characters of Diablo I.
Drognan
Drognan is an alchemist of Lut Gholein , and, in addition to its utility in the principal search by carrying out some research on the Tombeau of Tal Rasha , discovering only the existence of the Sanctuaire of the Mysteries , can sell to the player magic objects for the necromancians, the elementalists, and the paladins, in addition to traditional the potions and parchments.
Duriel
Duriel , the Lord of the Pain , is an enormous woodlouse equipped with very powerful legs kidnapper, and is the guard of the funerary room of Tal Rasha after the passage of the Somber Traveller and of Marius , which enabled him to release Baal which controls then the body of Tal Rasha . The purpose of Duriel is to prevent the escape of the archangel Tyrael , connected in the room after its defeat against the two brothers.
In the most recent versions of Diablo II (probably as of the version 1.07, i.e. the initial version of Diablo II: Lord Of Destruction), the characteristics of Duriel were increased, which makes a very strong boss of it (in particular by its capacity to slow down by the cold the player that it touches, as its speed of attack), forcing the players to play Act II more to improve their character and to obtain better objects. Another problem, known of the people playing with a restricted hardware configuration, is at the time of the transition between the Tombeau from Tal Rasha (the zone where it is necessary to deposit the Bâton Horadrim ), and the funerary room of Tal Rasha , where Duriel is. During this transition where the screen becomes black, Duriel has time to launch an attack on the player, without this one not seeing it. On the other hand, he hears it in his enclosures, which is not pleasant to know.
Elzix
Elzix is a former gangster of the desert of Lut Gholein which lined up, and sells from now on weapons to the player, and is also the character of Act II with being able to bet with the player. According to its clean dires, it lost an eye, a leg and an arm of time when he was gangster.

The Blacksmith
The Forgeron is a démoniaque arms manufacturer who chose to work with the monastery of Rogues . It keeps an artefact useful to very good blacksmith, the Marteau of Horadrim . Physically, it is a Overlord (class of monster of Diablo 1) graphically improved.
Geglash
Geglash is a pillar of the tavern of Atma , in addition to being one of the mercenaries of Greiz , the captain of the mercenaries of the city. Geglash likes only one thing: to drink. He plays the same useless part, but comic, that Farnham the Soak in Diablo 1.
Gheed
Gheed is commercial which was found blocked with the camp of the rogues of Act I because of the appearance of the monsters. Warriv describes it as a swindler who wishes only the money of the player (its comment when the player finishes the search of the Forgotten Tour east one--can-more explicit). Itself is prided to be able to sell any object useful for the player. He has an unexplained hatred towards the necromancians, which does not prevent it from selling with all objects more expensive than any other salesman of the play (made checked in the data files of the play). He is also the character who can bet with the player.
Greiz
Greiz is the captain of the mercenaries of Lut Gholein , engagné by Jerhyn , the sultan of Lut Gholein , to contain the invasion of the monsters in its palate (thing which he will never say to the player). He has admiration for the prowesses of the player, and strongly invites it to recruit one of its mercenaries (a paladin, effective with Act II if it well is equipped).
Hadriel
Hadriel is one of the two only allied PNJ posted in-outside cities (the other being Flavie ). It is an Angel which is at the entry of the Sanctuaire of Chaos in Act IV. Absolutely nothing him is known, but its appearance seems to show that it could be one of the angels captured at the time of the attack of Izual in hell, there is that well a long time. It is him which indicates to the player how to reveal Diablo. It can neither move nor to fight.
Halbu
It is the blacksmith of the Forteresse of Pandémonium , with Act IV. Him anything else is not known.
Hephasto
Hephasto was one of the Angels captured at the time of the attack of the Hell by Izual and its troops. He was arms manufacturer for this last. After its conversion, it has quickly climbs the scales of the hierarchy in Hell, to become the arms manufacturer of the Forges of the Hell . It is him which has the hammer necessary to the destruction of the stone of heart of Mephisto.
Horazon
Horazon is not a character present in the play, but it has importance in the general intrigue. He is the brother of Bartuc , and together are two great figures of the ordre Vizjerei. Interested by the study of the malefic magic, Bartuc is absorbed much more by its power. It starts to disavow its membership of the ordre Vizjerei, and shows more and more aggressiveness vis-a-vis his brother Horazon. the unhappy one can practically nothing make against the malefic madness which seizes him. Meanwhile, l'ordre Horadrim manages to capture Baal and one of the members of this kind, Tal Rasha , is made lock up in one of the seven tombs of the Canyon of the Magi , with the stone of heart of Baal inserted in its body, imprisoning forever the Seigneur of the Destruction . Horazon compiles information on the existence of the seven tombs and the Canyon of the Magi in a newspaper. The madness of Bartuc reaches a point of no return, because it kills Horazon and much of other members of the ordre Vizjerei, causing its fall. Bartuc flees, and is left for died with the eyes and the ears of the historians and the storytellers. It is only much later that a former member without real power of the ordre Vizjerei, which is made call the Invoker , puts the hand on the newspaper of Horazon , and discovers the existence of the Canyon of the Magi , but especially, of the Sanctuaire of the Mysteries , one of the required passages towards the Canyon, and which it is eager to go to control in his entirety.
Hratli
Hartli is the blacksmith of the Quais of Kurast , and uses magic in its forging mill to create more powerful weapons.
The Invoker
Nobody knows his name, but it is known that it is a former magus of the ordre Vizjerei, the same order as Bartuc and Horazon . The play does not say it explicitly, but the newspaper of Horazon was certainly stolen by this magus, which gave access to him the Sanctuaire Mysteries , while passing by the palate of Jehryn and by leaving voluntarily the gate of access to the opened Sanctuaire , making it possible the demons to invade the palate. The invoker seems to seek the control of the Sanctuaire of the Mysteries , but the player will put a term at his desire by killing it. Deckard Cain speaks about him like impostor.
Izual
Izual was, of the time of the conflict eternal of the Good against the Evil, one of the best lieutenants of the army of the Good, and the carrier of the legendary sword, Azurewrath , ravageuse against any demon. It was also one of the best friends of the archange Tyrael. At the time of a massive attack missed (it had underestimated impressive the armed démoniaque one) to prevent the end of the construction of equivalent malefic of Azurewrath, called the Shadowfang , Izual is captured, like many Angels. The three brothers, Diablo, Baal and Mephisto, enormously torture it and obtain from him of information, in particular on the operation of the stones of heart , and the way of corrupting them. The three brothers then decide to imprison it in the body of a particularly solid demon, that which the player must face to ensure safety d'Izual. This made, Izual explains to the player what arrived to him and what allowed Diablo and its brothers to release itself from the stones of heart .
Jamella
Jamella is a saleswoman of magic objects in the Forteresse of Pandémonium . It is also the character who can bet with the player.
Jerhyn
Jerhyn is the leading one of Lut Gholein , certainly the son of a sultan. On arrival of the player in his city, it hides the events to him which took place in its palate, i.e. the appearance of the monsters and the massacre of the residents of its Harem. Preferring at the beginning to secretly use the services of Greiz and its mercenaries, the prowesses made by the player and the assistance given by Drognan convince Jerhyn to let it enter the palate. Its authority is certain, the sailor Meshif , for example, never disputes its orders not to leave the port as long as the situation does not allow it, and also, to have to take along to play it towards the Quais of Kurast .
Kaelan
Kaelan is a PNJ with the really minor role. It is a guard of the palate of Jerhyn to Lut Gholein , the city of Act II. It completely blocks the entry of the palate until Jerhyn gives the authorization to enter.
Kashya
Kashya one of Rogues is graded of the camp of Rogues which survived the massacre of the monastery of Rogues . It is it which will make it possible to the player to recruit his rogues when he kills Blood Raven .
Larzuk
Larzuk is the blacksmith of the city of the Act V, Harrogath . It can repair and buy the objects, and it sells certain types of objects (weapons and armours mainly).
Lysander
Lysander is an inhabitant of Lut Gholein specialized in the sale of potions. Its hearing is seriously amochée, certainly due to its advanced age.
Malah
Malah is the healer of the city of the Act V, Harrogath . This old woman cures the bubbles of life and of mana, can buy the objects and sell some of them (parchments, rods, potions).
Marius
Marius is the central narrator of the intrigue of Diablo II. It is thanks to him that the player (you, not the misadventure in the play) learns what arrived at the time of the crossing towards the Hells of the Sombe Voyageur .
Marius saw with the monastery of Rogues , without really that one learns his role, and succeeds in escaping at the time of the arrival of the Somber Traveller and of the lifting of the demons. Taken refuge in an inn non-loin of the monastery, its traumatism and its nightmares recurring really prevent it to know what to make. One evening, the Somber Traveller stops with the same inn, and, again discovering the presence of demons which located the presence of Diablo in this body, manages to leave the inn healthy and except, but fall nose to nose with the Malignant one, which then obliges it to make the voyage with him until the Tombeau of Tal Rasha . It is during the combat with Tyrael that Marius , under the control of Diablo, releases the stone of heart body of Tal Rasha , thus making it possible Baal to fully take possession of it. Including/understanding its error then at the same time as Diablo releases it from its control, not needing more him, it is ordered to him to reach the Forges of the Hell and to destroy good once for all the stone of heart of Baal. But it does not reach the door of access to the Hells, and finishes in an asylum, with the stone of heart in its possession.
Knowing the danger to leave the stone of heart at the disposal of no matter whom, Baal, being made pass for l'archange Tyrael, visit returns to Marius in his cell, and, after having listened to all the history, manages to recover the stone of heart , for then showing him its true nature, and putting fire at entire asylum. It is on this infernal kinematics that Diablo II stops, implying, at the time, that a continuation devoted to pursues of Baal was going to be foreseeable. It will be thing made with Diablo II: Lord off Destruction.
Meshif
Meshif is a navigator who has a boat. Native of Kurast , it often makes the way Kurast - Lut Gholein , but with the events démoniaques, it is constrained to await the permission of Jerhyn , the leader of Lut Gholein , before being able to set out again with Kurast (of which it does not know yet that it was largely destroyed).
Natalya
Natalya is one of the most mysterious characters of Diablo II, at the time where any information had not been given on the extension Lord off Destruction. It is with the Quais of Kurast , and, according to its dires, awaits the orders of its superiors before leaving. Deckard Cain speaks about it like one of the members of the ordre Khral-Harzhek, traqueurs of magicians malefic. Physically, it resembles enormously an Assassin of Diablo II: Lord off Destruction, but those make party, historically, of the ordre Viz-Jaq' taa, founded in answer to the conflict of the two brothers Bartuc and Horazon , in order to prevent that any catastrophic overflow does not occur in the orders of Magus. The history is thus the same one, it is right the name which changed. When the player achieved the search of the Livre of Lam Essen (or at an equivalent stage in term of exploration of the chart), Natalya left Kurast .
Nihlathak
Nihlathak is a necromancian, one of old of Harrogath which survived at the time of the collective sacrifice of old in order to creating a magic barrier preventing any enemy from crossing the walls of the city. In fact, Nihlathak heavily cheated, because it made a pact with Baal: in the exchange of a relic giving access to him the Pierre-World without having to face the three old ones which protects the access, Baal saves Harrogath .
Nihlathak is initially with Harrogath . Antiphatique and depressive, he is nevertheless the character who can bet with the player. Later in the exploration of the Act V, the player will discover qu'Anya, the girl of one of old, was imprisoned by Nihlathak in magic ice. After having released Anya , the player must go to face the necromancian in his den, but its death will not be used for nothing (except relieving the player and Harrogath to have attended a traitor), because Baal obtained the relic.
Ormus
Ormus is a magus and magic salesmen of objects of the Quais of Kurast . He speaks about him with the third anybody and claims himself to be formerly a large magus. He can look after the points of life and mana of the player.
Qual-Kehk
Qual-Kehk is the war leader of the city of the Act V, Harrogath . It is with him that it is necessary to be addressed to engage of the mercenaries.
Rakanishu
Rakanishu is the butcher (a class of demons) protective of the Pierres of Cairn , with the " Field of Pierres" , with Act I.
Sink Vagabond
The Sinks Traveller , quoted during the first acts, and that one briefly meets with the whole beginning of Act III, is in fact only the hero triumphing over Diablo 1. After the murder of the animal in his den, the player, hoping to succeed in controlling the spirit of Diablo locked up in the stone of heart by imprisoning it in his body (thus, by being inserted it in cranium), failed, and is quickly made control by Diablo. He thus leaves quickly towards the east in direction the Tombeau Tal Rasha , in order to release Baal, one of his two brothers.
Its first marked passage was with the monastery of Rogues , where the majority of Rogues were killed or converted, and where a small army of demons rose to the arrival of Diablo. To prevent any continuation by adventurers, and also for his own survival (because, let us not forget it, it was at the origin of the banishment on Earth of Diablo), Andarielle is from now on the large den mother of the Monastery.
Shortly after the setting with bag of the monastery , the Sinks Traveller made a halt in an inn, and, at its departure, puts at it integral fire. It falls on Marius , a survivor of the carnage of the monastery of Rogues , which has of another choice to only have to follow the Evil.
Together, they carry out a crossing towards the East, and achieve finally the first goal of the Malignant one: the Tomb of Tal Rasha , where a former magus of the ordre Horadrim, Tal Rasha, was done voluntarily buried with the stone of heart of Baal inserted in his body. On its arrival in the funerary room, the Voyageur is made attack by l'archange Tyrael, and, benefitting from the control of the simple spirit Marius , the fact of withdrawing the stone of heart of Baal of the body momifié, but alive, of Tal Rasha , while Tyrael demene with Diablo. Baal reappears then in the body of Tal Rasha , and to two, manage to beat Tyrael and to connect it at the bottom of the funerary room of the former magus Horadrim .
The two brothers take then the direction of the Temple Zakarum , old place to be able and of seat of the clan Zakarum (today cursed and convert), with Travincal , in the forest area of Kurast , Royaume of Westmarch . They reach the Prison of Hatred where Mephisto is locked up, the third brother, contained in the body of Sankekur , another sacrificed Horadrim magus. Lastly, the meeting of the three enables them to open a door towards the Enfers , and to affirm the head office of the places again. This moment, Diablo does not require more for appearance of the Somber Traveller (thus, of the hero of Diablo 1), and is let metamorphose in the enormous red demon that the player will face with Act IV of Diablo II.
Tal Rasha
Tal Rasha was a powerful member of the ordre Horadrim, with its apogee. At the time of a combat between him and l'archange Tyrael against Baal, the stone of heart of the demon broke, and on the opinion pressing of Tyrael , Tal Rasha agreed the destiny to have to be inserted the fragment of stone of heart in the body, and to live in this situation of division of the body with the spirit of Baal, locked up in one of the seven tombs of the Canyon of the Magi , a practically untraceable place, and with its momifié body, in addition.
It is not that during the battle which opposed the Somber Traveller with Tyrael that Marius withdraws the fragment of stone of âm E of the body of Tal Rasha , allowing Baal, much more extremely than the former magus, to take possession of its body and to destroy its spirit.
Tyrael
Tyrael is an Archangel with the very important role in the intrigue. It helped with the imprisonment of the Three Higher Demons (a kinematics of the play shows it in particular present at the time of the imprisonment of Baal in the body of Tal Rasha ). It seems to often intervene to help the Human ones, unlike the majority of the celestial beings. In the history, it intervenes when Diablo comes to release Baal . Because of Marius, it is beaten by the two Démons brothers and is found imprisoned in the tomb of Tal Rasha and kept by Duriel . It had time to charge Marius with a mission (which will not be accomplished). To pass to Act III, it is necessary to overcome Duriel and to deliver Tyrael .
Tyrael reappears with Act IV, where it is present among the PNJ of the city. It gives two of the three searches of the Act. After the death of Diablo , it opens a gate towards the Act V (if the extension is installed).
It should be noted that Marius , imprisoned in an asylum, will take Baal for Tyrael . Baal will let it tell its history, then will kill it to recover its stone of heart.
Warriv
Warriv is a Master of caravans who is blocked with the camp of Rogues because of the presence of the demons in all the area. It is often accustomed to making the way of the monastery of Rogues until Lut Gholein , and it is as that which it directs the player to the desert as of the end of the reign d'Andarielle and of its troop to the monastery of Rogues . Warriv sees of a very evil eye prohibitory Gheed and its tariffs.
