List bishops of Sées

List bishops of Sées established according to Pouillé of old the diocese of Séez .

The town of Séez became Sées on decision of the First Consul Napoleon Bonaparte following the countryside of Italy. Indeed, after the conquests carried out, France found itself with two towns of Séez (a village of the name of Séez being then in the duchy of Savoy, conquered by the French Army). Consequently, the town of Séez ornaise was renamed Sées on order of Bonaparte.

Nevertheless, the bishops never followed this modification (resulting from a revolutionary government of origin in this period of religious persecution against Catholicism) which was not essential on them since, the Concordat not being signed yet, the Catholic church by no means did not recognize the legitimacy of the political regime in place then in France, the Consulat. The Diocèse of Séez thus kept this name and this orthography when well even the episcopal see was in the town of Sées. This detail of the history is always living today.

The list is dubious until Azon, restorer of the diocese after the invasion Norman. Many old dates are only approximate and even, in consequence of the disappearance of any document, purely conjectural. Where it on two dates there, the first indicates the beginning of the episcopate, the second that of the death, of the resignation or the translation to another seat:
