List areas of the European Union

This list aims at presenting the areas of the European Union while following the Nomenclature of statistical territorial units (NUTS), and adopts the following presentation with this intention:

  • area (NUTS 1)
    • county (NUTS 2)
where the terms of “area” and “county” are replaced by their idiomatic equivalents everywhere where it is necessary and where the proper names of these areas and counties are in Italic when they represent an uncommon administrative term.
