In 1661, Louis XIV granted to François de Rochechouart ( 1611 - 1696 ), count de Chandenier, and its descendants, the right to carry the title of Count de Limoges - and not that of Viscount of Limoges, since the Viscount had passed in the royal field since his grandfather. The Viscounts of Rochechouart are indeed the descendants in male and direct line of the Viscounts of Limoges. Since this date, the title of count de Limoges falls to the chief of weapons of the Maison of Rochechouart .-
