List French refineries

France currently counts 13 refineries in activity, of which 12 are located in metropolis. In addition, following the two oil crises of 1973 and 1979, several refineries were stopped.

Refinery of Normandy

Located at Gonfreville-l' Orcher, in Seine-Maritime, it was brought into service in 1932 and has a capacity for treatment of 16 MT. It is the largest French refinery and one of the first at the European level.

Refinery of Grandpuits (ex-ELF)

Located at Grandpuits, in Seine-et-Marne, it was brought into service in 1966, to refine crude oil recently discovered in Paris region. At present, the local production still represents a significant share of its provisioning, the remainder arriving by boat at the port of Le Havre.

Refinery of Flandres

Located at Mardyck, in the Northern , it was brought into service in 1974, at the time of the first oil crisis. It is the last refinery built in France.

Refinery of Donges (ex-ELF)

It has a capacity for treatment from approximately 11 Mt/an. Located at Donges, at the edge of the Loire, it profits from the river traffic between Saint-Nazaire and Nantes and can thus accommodate tankers with strong tonnage.

Refinery of Provence

Located with Mède (Rhone delta). Connected since the beginning of 2006 with the complex of allowing Lavéra by 6 pipelines of the exchanges of products.

Refinery of Feyzin (ex-ELF)

Located at the south of Lyon (the Rhone), close to the French Petroleum Institute (IFP), brought into service in 1964.

ExxonMobil

Refinery of Port-Jerome-Gravenchon

Located at Our-Lady-with-Gravenchon, in the Seine-Maritime, it results from the fusion of the Esso refinery of Port-Jerome and of the refinery Mobil de Gravenchon, following the fusion of Exxon and Mobil in 1999. It was brought into service in 1933 and has a capacity for treatment of 12 MT.

Refinery of Fos

Located on the commune of Fos on sea in the Mouths of the Rhone, it was brought into service in 1965. Refining capacity 5.5 Mt/an

Shell

Refinery of Berre

Located on the commune of Berre the Pond in the Mouths of the Rhone, it was brought into service in 1931. Refining capacity 4 Mt/an.

Refinery of Small-Crown

Located at Small-Crown, in the Seine-Maritime, it was open in 1937.

INEOS

Refinery of Lavéra

Located at Lavéra, in the Rhone delta, this refinery belonged to BP until 2005.

CRR

Refinery of Reichstett

The Rhenish Company of refining is held at 100% by Shell since the end of 2006.
