Lipari is largest of the Wind Îles in the Tyrrhenian Sea and also the principal city of this island. It includes/understands 11  000 permanent inhabitants of which 5  000 in the town of Lipari. It belongs to the Italy and is in the Province of Messine.

During the years 1925 to 1940, the fascistic mode imprisons its political adversaries among which Emilio Lussu, Carlo Rosselli and Francesco Fausto Nitti
