Lionel Jospin government
This article introduces to the composition of the Gouvernement of the France under the Prime Minister Lionel Jospin of the June 2nd 1997 to the May 6th 2002 as well as the key events of this government.
The Lionel Jospin government in place of 1997 to 2002, was supported by a called parliamentary coalition Plural left, which included/understood the Socialist party, the Communist party, the Greens, the Mouvement of the Citizens and the Radical left party. After the dissolution of the National Assembly by the president Jacques Chirac, the left gains the legislative May and June 1997 (the socialist group holding 43% of the seats to the Parliament). Jacques Chirac appoints then Lionel Jospin Prime Minister, opening the way with the Third cohabitation of the 5th Republic.

March 1997: Lionel Jospin judges the decision of closing of the factory Renault of Vilvorde " financially, industrially and socially aberrante". This one will be closed on June 28th, three weeks after the taking of of the new Prime Minister.
- June 2nd: Beginning of the government Lionel Jospin, Prime Minister
- Laws founding the Employment-youths.
- Opening of the capital of France Telecom, 42 billion FF. Setting out of purse of 21% of the capital in October 1997 (then 13% in November 1998).
1998

Law of June 17th, 1998 relating to the prevention and the repression of sexual offenses like to the protection of the minors. This one founds the socio-legal Suivi.
- Privatization of the group of insurances Gan and opening of the Multi-media capital of Thomson, which continues in 2000. Privatization of the industrial and commercial Credit (CIC), repurchased by the Mutual credit to 68%, and of CNP Insurances.
- November 5th, 1998: Jospin inaugurates on the Plateau of California to Craonne (close to Verdun) the sculpture of Haïm Kern, commemorating the Armistice of 1918. He rehabilitates on this occasion the mutineers of the First World War, “shot for the example”, “exhausted by attacks condemned in advance, slipping into a soaked mud of blood, plunged in a despair bottomless”, and which “refused to be sacrificed”.

- Law Voynet (law of orientation for the installation and the sustainable development of the territory)
- Ratification of the Treated of Amsterdam (in connection with Europe) by the National Assembly (March 3rd, 1999).
- March 12th, 1999: decree privatisant after Recapitalisation the Crédit Lyonnais.
- Civil pact of solidarity (PACS)
- Opening of the capital of Air France and privatization of the industry group Eramet.
- Lively Law of 1999 on the innovation and research. The minister Claude Allègre begins also the installation of the Réforme LMD, in conformity with the Processus of Bologna decided by Europe. Lively in March 2000 following demonstrations being opposed to its policy resigns.

- Relative law with solidarity and the renewal urban (SRU) imposing a quota of 20% of social housing by commune.
- Law of June 15th, 2000 on the presumption of innocence (law Guigou)
- Referendum over the presidential five-year period (September 24th, 2000)
- Aerospace Opening of the capital of (which becomes EADS).
2001

Law Taubira of May 21st, 2001 on the recognition of the draft négrière and slavery like crime against humanity.
- June: signature of the protocol of London on the not-translation of the patents
- Law on daily safety
- Organic law concerning with the finance laws (LOLF), which determines the legal framework of the finance laws regulating the budget of the State, voted on August 1st, 2001.
- Completion of the Process of Matignon about the Corsica (voted law on December 4th, 2001). This last causes the departure, the previous year, of the Minister of Interior Department (and directing MDC) Jean-Pierre Chevènement.
- Creation of the Paternity leave
- Suppression of the special Funds used by the Elysium.
- Creation of the Premium for employment.
- Creation of the National Commission of the government aid, charged to supervise the attribution of the public allocations poured with the companies. This one was removed by an amendment voted nuitamment by the new majority from the right in 2002.
2002

RTT: law instituting the 35 hours.
- Law instituting the Personalized allocation of autonomy for the elderly.
- March 2002: setting out of purse of 49% of the capital of ASF, receipt: 1,8 billion euros.
- April 21st: first turn of the presidential election, at the conclusion from which the Lionel Jospin Prime Minister is eliminated (16,2%) with the profile from the candidate frontist Jean-Marie Le Pen (16,9%).
- May 6th: end of the government Jospin (resignation of the Prime Minister after the second turn of the presidential election).
