Lionel is in the youngest Légende arthurienne wire of King Bohort of Gaunes, the brother of Bohort Essilié and the cousin of Lancelot and Hector of the Ponds. Collected at the same time as his cousin by the Dame of the Lake he becomes knight of the Roundtable. Lionel with the bad luck to be victim twice of cruel scourgings. Thereafter, Lionel, just like its brother, will follow Lancelot in exile after the revelation of the culprit connection of this last with Guenièvre. Become King of Gaunes, Lionel takes part in the combat delivered by Lancelot against the forces of Arthur, then at the sides of Arthur against Mordred.
