Linzolo

The borough of Linzolo, located at 20 km in the South of Brazzaville on the plate of the Cataracts, is the site chosen between 1881 and 1883 for the foundation of the oldest Catholic Mission in Congo with that of Loango. The future Mgr Augouard is folded up there indeed, fault of having been able to found its mission with Brazzaville following an awkwardness of Savorgnan de Brazza. The Mission of Linzolo is created in agreement with the kongo chiefs on September 22nd, 1883, and its vault finished in 1885. It is the oldest construction of the country, unfortunately destroyed by a fire these last years. A modern vault with the interesting carved reliefs is next to the vestiges of them. The old boxes of the Mission are superb, just like the site.
