Linus Yale , known as thereafter Linus Yale Sr. , is an American inventor .

One owes him in particular an improvement of the principle of the Serrure to pins, having led to the first cylindrical lock equipped with a notched wrench (patented by his son, Linus Yale Jr.), similar to those which one uses today.
