Link Protocol Control

Link Control Protocol (LCP) is a protocol integrated into PPP, It is detailed in same RFC 1661 as this one.

In a communication PPP, the transmitter and the receiver send packages LCP to determine information specific to the data transmission. The LCP checks the identity of the connected element and accepts it or refuses it, it determines the size of the packages acceptable for the transmission, seeks the errors in the configuration and can stop the communication in the event of error. The data cannot be transmitted on a network as long as connection is not accepted by LCP.
