Line of the Bamboos
The Ligne of the Bamboos is a borough of the south-west of the island of the Réunion located on the communal territory of Saint-Pierre along a road circulating at approximately 200 meters of altitude.
This road is located on the layout of the one of the four parallel lines that the authorities drew in the landscape bordering at the beginning of the 18th century in order to carry out earlier the division of the immense concessions granted by the Compagnie of the Eastern Indies “Of the leaf of the blades to the top of the mountains” a few years.
The Line of the Bamboos was used to separate the second and the third concession on the basis of the sea while the Ligne Paradise only distinguished the first from the second to approximately 100 meters of altitude. The Line of the Four hundreds provided as for it this function 400 meters between the third and the fourth.
