Suburbs
Of Villeneuve-saint-Georges to Juvisy-sur-Orge
At the beginning of Villeneuve-saint-Georges, important rail junction freight and Transilien, the line crosses the Yerres then separates from the traditional Ligne Paris-Marseilles which crosses it by flyovers. To four ways, it then follows a relatively rectilinear layout and on the skirting level to the north of the grounds in waste land separating it from the the Seine and to the south the dwellings of the commune of Vigneux, served by a station.
The embankment on which the line is established raises gradually to the viaduct of Athis-Mons spanning the Seine. After this crossing, the ways separate, those dedicated to freight being connected to those of the Triage of Juvisy while those dedicated to the suburbs join by a long slope the station travellers or they côtoient those of the line C of the RER.
Juvisy-sur-Orge with Corbeil-Essonnes
After Juvisy, the line, maintaining with double track, will skirt the Seine to Corbeil.Initially, wedged between the river and the Trunk road 7, it crosses an urban fabric mixing dwellings and industrial parks, serving Viry-Châtillon. Then the dwellings yield the step to industries and the retail parks. The old station, given up, of the Grigny-valley-of-Seine mark the origin of the line of the plate which collects the essence of traffic the RER.
The line Villeneuve-Montargis, it, remains near the Seine, justifying by there name “by the valley” given to this section. Last industries disappear and the line skirts, in the east, the banks of the Seine and spaces of leisure which are established there and in the west of the parks and timbered gardens, giving to the traveller the impression to be far from any agglomeration.
The accesses of the stations of Laugh-Orangis, of the Large Borough and of Évry '' Petit Borough '' find an aspect more urbanized, especially with Laugh-Orangis where are old abandoned industrial plants and residential buildings.
After being last under the Francilienne, the line, joined by that going down from the plate of Évry, enters, by a curve tightened on the right, in the Gare of Corbeil-Essonnes.
In the countryside
From the Corbeil-Essonne with Ferté-Went It
With leaving the Station of Corbeil-Essonnes, the lines of Montargis and Melun separate, each one apparently taking the direction opposed to that which should be his and passing under the very high bridge in masonry supporting the Trunk road 7.The line of Melun obliques while going down towards the line while that of Montargis leaves while going up towards the left.
After having crossed the the Essonne, it is established then on its Right Bank, crossing in fill of the residential districts of the south of Corbeil, Essonnes and Robinson, then it is established with hillside, serves the Gare of Mill-Gallant, then crosses with right angle, on a bridge, the Ligne Corbeil-Essonnes - Montereau just before this one does not join the valley of the Seine by a tunnel, and passes then under the highway A7.
The line now left the Paris and its suburbs and will gradually go up the course of the valley of the Essonne to the plate of the Gâtinais. It skirts, always on Right Bank, sometimes with hillside, sometimes in fill, the marshes of the Essonne in a very wooded landscape and serves in the passing the town of Mennecy. Then, after the Ballancourt-on-Essonne, alternating sliced and fill, the landscape widens until the arrival with Ferté-Went It, city established on the level of a tightening of the valley.
Ferté-Went to Malesherbes
After Ferté-Went, the valley of the Essonne is narrower. The line, increasingly sinuous, alternates distinct and fill in country landscapes closed at the horizon by the slopes. It serves the Boutigny-on-Essonne and Maisse then crosses the river before joining the Gare of Buno - Gironville. The Station of Boigneville mark the limit of the Ile-de-France and the tariffing suburbs which applies to it.From now on, after the traveller saw with the embankment base the last cressonnières, the line goes up, by a long slope in a wooded and broken landscape, towards the plate of the Gâtinais. Little before the top slope, a landscape of fields replaces wood, then the line arrives in station of Malesherbes.
De Malesherbes with Montargis
After Malesherbes, the line is now with single track. After having crossed on level the Trunk road 152 moving towards Pithiviers, the single-track lines and not electrified of Bourron-Marlotte and Pithiviers are detached each one in its direction. A short section, not electrified, is maintained in state in order to still be used as drawer with the long material trains at the time of building sites of modernization on the section in service, then a stop marks the end of the exploited part of the line.August 1st
