Line H (Buenos Aires)
The línea H of the subway of Buenos Aires, capital of the Argentine is currently in construction. They are the first work of a new line since the end of the year 1940, when one completed the work of línea E. According to the project, the finished line will have a total extension of roughly 11 kilometers. Work is envisaged in several stages.
The first stage of work began the April 19th 2001, and is carried out by the company Dycasa . The section has 3,5 kilometers of tunnels and five stations with correspondence with the existing lines has and E. This first stage (of Ounce to Caseros ) was finished in 2006, but was not brought into service the October 18th 2007 qu ' after the delivery of rolling stock.
In 2006 the building work of the second phase started, whose inauguration is planned for 2009, which will connect the new line with the línea B. however, there is still no agreement on the times concerning the following section (of Corrientes with Retiro ).
It is estimated that it will drain more 200 000 passengers per business day (more than 60 million per annum).
Legal layout
The line will have primarily a North-South layout, i.e. transverse compared to the whole of the other lines of the Métro of Buenos Aires, which until now at the shape of a range of direction is towards west. It will have (like the line C) a correspondence with the totality of the five other lines in function, which will multiply the possibilities of different ways in the city. It is incontestably a great step ahead in the improvement and the rationalization of the network, which until now was strongly defective.
Another great progress brought by this new line: for the first time the south of the city will be served by one or two stations. It was time that these largely proletarianized districts have also access to this average rapid and comfortable of urban transport. It is of course only one very small beginning, more especially as part of these stations of the great south of the city belong to a decided phase, but not yet programmed.
Law 317 was voted by the Parliament of the Legislatura of Ciudad of Buenos Aires , the December 14th 1999 and was promulgated the January 13rd 2000 per decree 31/2000. This law establishes in its Appendix I the layout of the line H (the station Caseros was added later on).
