Line Grigny - Corbeil-Essonnes

The line from Grigny to Corbeil by Évry or Ligne of the plate of Évry is a line of Railroad located in the the Essonne which serves the various districts of the new Ville of Évry.

It constitutes a parallel route, although more sinuous length because, with the layout of the line of Villeneuve in Montargis by Corbeil on which it is connected in its two extremities.

It is a line of the railway network national, managed by RF and exploited by the SNCF.

History

This line was the first new line built by the National company of the railroads French (the SNCF). Indeed, since its creation, new work of the National company until had related to there only adaptations, rebuildings or creations of large sortings, but not of section of new line.

The construction of the line of the “Plate” was decided in order to accompany the urban development New by Évry, chosen to become the Préfecture new department of the the Essonne resulting from the dismantling of the old departments of the the Seine and Seine-et-Oise.

It required:

  • construction “ex-nihilo” of four stations
  • the boring of the tunnel of Grigny
  • the realization of the approach ramps to the two extemities, in fill in north and viaduct in the south
  • the clearing of a long trench crossing the plate where the new city
  • was to extend the clothes industry from many road bridges to the top of the trench, some restoring of the existing routes, others establishing of new connections related to the project of the New City. Some of these bridges carried out at the time still did not receive a use today, the projects of origin having evolved/moved since.
  • the creation of a new junction to the birth of the line in Grigny - Valley of the Seine and the rehandling of the installations of the Station of Corbeil-Essonnes.

The line was brought into service in two times.

Layout

Long, it 10 kilometers separates from the line of Villeneuve with Montargis by Corbeil on the level of the old station of Grigny - Valley of the Seine, now abandoned.

After having crossed the Trunk road 7, it joined, by a fill in slope, the Gare of Grigny - Center. This station with half with the free air, with half is buried.

The line leaves the station by the Tunnel of Grigny, always in slope, which emerges in a trench near the highway A6. It will remain into distinct on almost all the remainder of the course. This provision was selected at the time of its contruction in preparation for the urbanization to come.

If the Station of Orangis - Wood of the Spine is with the free air, those of Évry - Courcouronnes and of the Arm wrestling on the other hand, are covered and have the aspect of underground stations.

Arrived in southern limit of the plate of Évry, the line goes down again towards the Gare of Corbeil-Essonnes by a length Viaduc enjambeant the Francilienne.

Equipment

It is a line with double track electrified in D.C. current 1,5 Kv and equipped with the automatic Bloc luminous as well as IPCS. It constitutes one of the principal southern branches of the line D of the RER and supports a rather intense traffic of suburbs exclusively. Although theoretically equivalent with the historical route “by the Valley”, of the restrictions of circulations applied to certain types of driving machines limit to some exceptional diversions its loan by other circulations that those of the RER.

It does not comprise any Crossing level.
