Line Cologne - Frankfurt
The Cologne line - Frankfurt is a Ligne at high speed an overall length of 177 km connecting the towns of Cologne and Frankfurt.
It is reserved for the oars of the Inter City Express (ICE 3), with a top speed of 300 km/h.
Its construction, followed first tests, was completed in 2001. The business service for the travellers began in 2002.
The new line starts in North with Siegburg and goes down until Frankfurt while passing the Aéroport from Frankfurt. It skirts the old A3 highway, passing by 30 tunnels and 18 bridges.
With the difference of French LGV, the ways are not posed on ballast but on concrete, which forms a concreted band of 150 km.
The line connects Cologne to the Aéroport of Frankfurt in 1 hour and Frankfurt in 1 hour 20.
