Linda Ronstadt
Linda Maria Ronstadt , born the December 5th 1947 with Tucson, Arizona, is a American Chanteuse of rock'n'roll and Country - rock'n'roll.
Biography
Linda Ronsdadt was born with Tucson (Arizona) from a father Mexicain (German ascent) and from a mother Dutch E (English ascent).It began its career as singer of Musique Folk with its group “Stone Poneys”, with Los Angeles in the middle of the years 1960. This group was formed with the guitarists Bob Kimmel and Kenny Edwards. They recorded their first album in 1967. Its first Hit was Different Drum , a composition of the Monkees.
Its first success in solo was Long Length Time in 1970, a song of country-rock'n'roll.
It was then tested with several musical genres: Rock'n'roll, Country, Rhythm and Blues, New wave, Opera and Mariachi.
Linda collaborated with many artists, among them one can quote Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, J.D. Souther, The Eagles, Andrew Gold, Kate and Anna McGarrigle, Paul Frederic Simon, James Taylor, Warren Zevon, Nicolette Larson and Elvis Costello.
Its principal successes are songs of other artists, like Warren Zevon (Poor poor pitiful me), Elvis Costello, J.D. Souther, The Rolling Stones (Tumbling Dice), Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, The Everly Brothers, Flying Burrito Brothers, Little Feat, Neil Young, Roy Orbison (Blue Bayou) and Buddy Holly (It' S so easy).
It had its principal successes with the producing Peter Asher of 1974 with 1980. Its first Hits in 1974: You' Re No Good , When Will I Be Loved , Heat Wave , That' L Be the Day and It' S So Easy . Its album Heart Like has Wheel arrived at the head of Billboard in 1974, just as Simple Dreams in 1977 and Living in the U.S.A. in 1978.
In 1980 it carried out an album New wave with songs of Elvis Costello and Hits like Hurt So Bad , How Do I Make You , and I Can' T Let Go .
In 1983 it played in the film The Pirates off Penzance based on an operetta of Gilbert and Sullivan.
In 1987, it carried out an album in trio with Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris, this album received a Grammy award, ten simple resulting from this disc returned in the 10 best sales of country-rock'n'roll. The trio carried out another album Trio 2 in 1999.
Always also changeable, Linda carried out an album of music for children in 1996 “ Dedicated to the One I Coils ”. On the whole it realized more than forty albums, the last show a return to the sources with ballades of pop-rock'n'roll.
Linda had eight gold discs and four out of platinum for its albums.
Its success with the the United States was such as it made six times the cover of Time magazine, including once in 1977 with the title " Torchy Rock".
It also defrayed the chronicle because of its many love affairs, in particular with Jerry Brown, former governor of California and candidate with the presidency of the United States, and with the scenario writer George Lucas.
Three of its albums were #1 with the Billboard, just as simple, and ten of its albums were classified in the ten first of Billboard.
The albums which had the most success are What' S New (1983) and Cry Like has Rainstorm, Howl Like The Wind (1989); for each one, more than three million discs were sold. Compilation Greatest Hits (Linda Ronstadt) is its disc which was sold the most.
