Linas

Linas is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France. It is served by the line of bus DM151 of transport Daniel Meyer.

Its inhabitants is called the Linoises and the Linois .

The current mayor is François Shoveling, without label, since 1995, which is also general adviser. The first assistant is Gilbert Guyot, charged with the general affairs, and second associated, Mrs. Brunel, responsible for human resources and the Culture. The common one formed a district, today dissolves, with the commune of Montlhéry.

The commune is established along the road of Paris with Orleans (RN20). So the activity was always centered on lodging (relay of station). A market-gardening activity benefitted largely from the manure left by the horses.

The 20th century saw the construction of the circuit speed (1924) and a road ring, the following year. It was the cradle of the automobile sport in France.

Today, the race track, called improperly “the Motor-racing track of Linas-Montlhéry” of the name of the close city, does not meet the standards any more and is threatened of disappearance. The road circuit is used by tests of prototype in the greatest secrecy. Today, these lines of business were replaced by a retail park and industrial important. Part of the sports grounds of the National center of Rugby are on the commune of Linas.
