Limours
Limours is a common French, located in the department of the the Essonne and the area Île-de-France.
The inhabitants are called Limouriens .
The commune is sometimes called Limours-in-Hurepoix .
Geography
Limours is located on the plate of the Hurepoix.
The common one remains agricultural: on its 1425 ha, 296 ha are occupied by the forest and 800 ha are devoted to agriculture.
Localities and variations
Three hamlets are attached to Limours: Chaumusson (very close to the borough), Roussigny (a little with the variation) and Cormier (moved away, little urbanized more).

History
The name Limours has a Celtic origin, of Li (place) and amor (love), therefore “place of the loves” .The inhabitants of Limours were formerly called slipper manufacturers because been engaged had as a habit to offer slippers.
In 1545, François I {{er}} gave the seigniory of Limours to Anne de Pisseleu, duchess of Étampes. This one made build a castle, which had famous owners thereafter: Diane of Poitiers, Richelieu, Gaston of Orleans, the Countess of Brionne. The castle was ruined shortly after the Révolution, and definitively shaven in 1835.
Of 1931 to the Second world war, Limours is served by the State company by the Ligne Paris-Chartres by Gallardon, in fact limited to Châtillon - Montrouge, because ever prolonged to Paris. An important viaduct is still visible nowadays.
At the same period, Limours is also served by the company PO (Paris-Orleans) by the Ligne of Seals, via Saint-Rémy-the-Chevreuse.
Charles Tillon, number three of the clandestine Communist party and founder of ftp hides in Limours during the Occupation.
From 1965 to 1976, Limours is the terminus of a line (installed on the old State line) for a experimental Aérotrain, which connects it to Gometz-le-Châtel via Gometz-the-City. The installations, although with the abandonment for 30 years, have been always in place.

The Saint-Pierre church is a mixture of styles, in particular blazing Gothic because it underwent through the ages several partial demolitions and was rebuilt on several occasions.The orthodoxe church of Limours, built out of wood and inaugurated on October 23rd, 2005.
