Limettier

The Limettier ( Citrus aurantifolia ) is a small tree of the family of the Rutacées.

Other common nouns: lemon roller, acid limettier.

Description

It is a shrub from 3 to 5 m in height. It is covered all the year of small white and red flowers. The production of fruits (the file green S or lemons) is thus continuous.

Surface of distribution

Originating in India or Malaysia. It is mainly cultivated with the the Antilles to replace the lemon tree whose culture gets a poor output under the tropical latitudes.
