Lillian Copeland
Lillian Copeland , born the November 25th 1904 and deceased the July 7th 1964, was a American athlete which excelled in the tests to launch.
It was born with New York Polish Jewish immigrant parents. His/her father east bites whereas it was young. His/her mother remaria and the family moved with Los Angeles.
In Athletics, she excelled in all the throws, in particular with the Shot put. She gained the championship of the Amateur Athletic Union five times in this disciplines (1924-1928, 1931). Moreover, it also gained with the throwing the discus in 1926 and 1927 and with the throwing the javelin in 1926 and 1931. In this last discipline, it establishes three new world records in 1926 and 1927.
The Olympic Games of summer of 1928 were the first to include female tests of athletics. Copeland took part only in the throwing the discus because the weight and throwings the javelin did not form part of the program yet. With Amsterdam, it finished second behind the Polish Halina Konopacka.
In 1931, Copeland followed the courses of the the University of California of the South and concentrated thus less on the sport. Nevertheless, it took part in the Olympic Games of summer of 1932 in its town of residence, Los Angeles and gained gold with the throwing the discus to its last test.
Shortly after these plays, it withdrew competition.
