Lili Kraus
Lili Kraus is a pianist born with Budapest the March 4th 1903, died in Asheville (North Carolina) the November 6th 1986.
Biography
It had as Masters Zoltán Kodály, Béla Bartók with Budapest, Eduard Steuermann with Vienna and Artur Schnabel with Berlin. It Marie with Otto Mandl and settles with London at the time of the Anschluss. During a round in the Indies Dutchwomen, it is made captive by the Japanese in 1942. After the war, it takes refuge in New Zealand and takes nationality there. It is established in Paris between 1950 and 1954 before settling in the United States.
Repertory
It is especially known for its interpretations mozartiennes. With Simon Goldberg, it realized in 1939 the first recording of the Sonate S for piano and violin of Mozart. It engraves then one of the first integrals of the sonatas. She also plays Beethoven and Schubert.
