Like-Damien Degland
Like-Damien Degland is a Médecin and a zoologist French, born in 1787 with Armentières and died in 1856 with Lille.
He is head doctor of the Hôpital Saint Saver of Lille. He takes part in the foundation of the Natural history museum of natural history of this city which buys the collection of Degland. He makes appear in 1821 a Catalog of the collection of coleopters and in 1839, a Catalog of the birds observed in Europe, mainly in France and especially in the north of the kingdom . In 1849, the publisher Roret makes appear its major book European Ornithologie, or Catalogs analytical and reasoned of the birds observed in Europe (two volumes). This one being quickly exhausted, it prepares a wide version but it falls ill preventing it from concluding its project. This one is then taken again by Zéphirin Gerbe (1810-1890) which publishes it at Baillère (Paris) by enriching it in 1867.
There is a street Degland in Lille located between the street Gambetta and the Casquette place in the district of Wazemmes.
