Lijiang
Lijiang (丽江; Pinyin: Lìjiāng; literally “beautiful river”, in reference to the Yangzi Jiang) is a provincial town of the Yunnan, in China. It is a city-prefecture whose jurisdiction is populated mainly by the minority Naxi, and who is bordered in north by the Chang Jiang ( Yangzi ).

The development of tourism, in particular for the Chinese themselves, is modifying in-depth this city located in one of the poorest areas of China.A new city developed in margin of the old city, the latter being moulted gradually in tourist market where one can find in quantity clothing naxi, meat of yak dried, accessories out of leather, remedies made up starting from plants (Spirulina), inter alia.
The earthquake which devastated a third of the city in February 1996 left intact the majority of the traditional habitats, out of wood and stone, more resistant to the seisms than the modern buildings initially built without special precautions.
The old city of Lijiang was registered in 1997 on the Liste of the world heritage as “an old city exceptional located in a spectacular landscape”.

Demography
With the census of the year 2000, the jurisdiction of Lijiang counted: 1126646 inhabitants, for a density of 53,1 hab/km ².
Tourism
Principal tourist attractions of the surroundings of Lijiang are:

the mountain Yulong (玉龙, “dragon of jade”);
- the first meander of the Yangzi Jiang (长江第一弯), where the “stone percussion is”, site related to the war against the Guomindang;
- the residence of Doctor Joseph Rock'n'roll, in a village naxi, character celebrated for the creation of the first dictionary naxi;
- the residence of the Driven clan (木), or is a Buddhist fresco;
- the villages Naxi de Shuhe, Baisha, Wenhai and Yuhu in the valley of Lijiang;
- the Throats of the Jump of the tiger among deepest in the world;
- the Buddhist temple Yusi (玉寺).
Administrative divisions
The city-prefecture of Lijiang exerts its jurisdiction on five subdivisions - a district, two counties and two autonomous counties :- the district of Gucheng - 古城区 Gǔchéng Qū ;
- the county of Yongsheng - 永胜县 Yǒngshèng Xiàn ;
- the county of Huaping - 华坪县 Huápíng Xiàn ;
- the autonomous county naxi of Yulong - 玉龙纳西族自治县 Yùlóng nàxīzú Zìzhìxiàn ;
- the autonomous county yi of Ninglang - 宁蒗彝族自治县 Nínglàng yízú Zìzhìxiàn .
