Ligure Sea
The Ligure sea (or even sea ligurienne according to the German qualifier) (in Ligure Italian mar ) is the sea of Ligurie, that is to say part of the Mediterranean, with the north-eastern arm of the basin algéro-of Provence and bordered by the French Riviera, the Ligurie, the Archipel Tuscan and the north of the Corsica .

Geography
The arbitrary limits of the sea Ligure are in general defined as follows:- Western limit: according to a line uniting the Cape Ferrat close to Nice and the Point of Revellata close to Calvi in Haute-Corse;
- Eastern limit: according to a line connecting the Corsican Cape (on the level of Capu Sagru ) and the headland of Piombino.
It borders the France (Haute-Corse and the Alpes-Maritimes), the Italy (Ligurie, north of the Toscane, islands of Gorgone and Capraia) and the principality of Monaco. It is in the north of the Tyrrhenian Sea (of which it is separated by the Canal from Corsica) and in the east of the Gulf of Lions.
The most septentrional part of the sea bears the name of Golfe of Genoa. The Arno is thrown in the sea Ligure, on its Eastern coast, just as several other rivers going down from the the Apennines (Magra, Serchio). A maximum depth of more than 2 850 m is reached in the North-East of Corsica.
Ecological protection
In 1999, to protect the many species of Cetacea S present in the Ligure sea, the adjacent states granted to this sea the statute of SPAMI ( Specially Protected Areas off Mediterranean Importance , zone of the Mediterranean of special importance).The Sanctuaire of the Cetacea of the sea Ligure covers 84 000 km ² as well out of territorial water as at sea open.
Since 1996, Italy founded the national park of the archipelago Tuscan in charge of the safeguard of the seven large islands of the archipelago as well as sea-beds Tyrrhenian and ligure, like their important fauna. Until today, he is regarded as the largest marine park of Europe.
Since 1999 exists the national park of Cinque Ground , which is around Spezia and which, each year, accommodates many tourists come from the whole world for its splendid landscapes and its architecture.
