Ligny-in-Barrois

Ligny-in-Barrois is a city of the North-East of the France, in Lorraine, chief town of canton of the department of the Meuse.

The Communauté of communes of the Center Ornain (C.C.C.O.) gathers 12 communes: Chanteraine, Givrauval, Guerpont, Ligny-in-Barrois , Longeaux, Menaucourt, Naix-with-Forging mills, Saint-Amand-on-Ornain, Salmagne, Silmont, Tronville-in-Barrois, Velaines.

The canton of Ligny-in-Barrois account 20 communes: Chanteraine, Givrauval, Guerpont, Ligny-in-Barrois , Loisey-Culey, Longeaux, Maulan, Menaucourt, Naix-with-Forging mills, Nançois-on-Ornain, Nant-the-Large, Nant-the-Small, Nantois, Saint-Amand-on-Ornain, Salmagne, Silmont, Tannois, Tronville-in-Barrois, Velaines and Willeroncourt.

Economic activity

Ligny-in-Barrois is the town of origin of the company Essilor specialized in the Ophthalmic glasses, which counts several production sites there. Other important industry is the production site of bus of Evobus.
